You may submit an unlimited amount of entries at $5.00 per entry, as follows:

  • Artwork: $5.00 per slide/photo entry of
    your work.

  • Poetry: Each poem is an entry at $5.00 each.
  • Sculptures: The cost is $5.00 for each piece.
Sculptures require two slides/photos of each per piece, therefore a sculptor would
submit 10 slides or photos for 5 pieces of artwork.

  • Videos: The cost for videos is $10.00 per
    entry.

Make checks payable to: Survivors Art Foundation,
Inc.

Deadline: Slides/Photo entries must be received
by June 30th, 1999.

Entry Instructions:
Slides

of the top, title of the piece, and size and medium. On the back include your phone
number and area code, along with your address and an arrow in the direction of the
bottom. Photos: put all information on back. Videos: put all information
on label. Poetry: please send printed
poetry with your name, address, phone number, and email address on all entry pieces,
but also use the entry
form
and list each poem title (“medium”
= “poetry”).

Acceptance of work: You will be notified of your acceptance via email. If
you do not have an email address, then a postcard of which pieces were accepted will
be sent to you. The file copy should be sent with your artwork when you have been
accepted. The file copy must accompany the artwork with the signed release for the
work that is submitted. DO NOT SEND ANY ORIGINAL ARTWORK UNLESS YOU RECEIVE AN ACCEPTANCE
LETTER or POSTCARD.

Performance (Theatric, Dance, etc.):
Would you be willing to perform at the reception? If so, send a VCR tape of your
performance to be viewed before June 30th. Please include copies of press clippings,
and your resume along with brief description of your performance. The earlier the
better, this is judged on a first-come first-serve basis. Please include a SASE for
the tape to be returned.

application to become a participating artist

For more information regarding this show, contact
us at [email protected] or phone (516) 653-8105.

NOTE: Installation help is needed at Hofstra.
Please volunteer your commitment by email. Please include your telephone number so
we can contact you.

If your artwork is accepted:
DO NOT SEND ANY ORIGINAL ARTWORK UNLESS YOU RECEIVE AN ACCEPTANCE LETTER or POSTCARD.
Only framed or gallery wrapped artwork will be accepted. Screw eyes must be present.
Acceptance of artwork is the decision and the sole responsibility of the exhibition
directors. Sculptors must provide their own bases, especially for oversized pieces.
Poetry must be typed set to be read at a distance of at least 5 feet (remember it
is in a gallery, make it large enough to be legible). Please put poetry in a frame
under Plexiglas. (Suggestion: poster size might work well for a long piece or small
number of multi-pieces grouped together.)

Volunteering: Yes we need your help. Your help will be needed to sit for the
show’s hours. Other than the necessity of protecting the work, sitting has many benefits.
You will become acquainted with some of your fellow artists. You will be representing
us to the public. You will be helping us find new members, and you have time to really
l-o-o-k at the Art. Contact us for volunteer information.
